Dharnya Centre

The cultural hub of the Yorta Yorta People, in the heart of Yorta Yorta Country within Barmah National Park, Victoria. For generations, it has been a place of knowledge, celebration, and healing. Now entering a new chapter, Dharnya is being renewed with modern facilities. School camp bookings are open for 2026, while day experiences are available now for schools and businesses. Corporate packages can be tailored for conferences, team building, or cultural immersion — all led by Yorta Yorta Knowledge Holders.

WINTER ON COUNTRY

Winter brings a quiet beauty to Yorta Yorta Country. Cool mornings and drifting river mist settle over the Dhungala (Murray River) as the Barmah Forest enters a slower season. Sea eagles are often seen soaring above the waterways, pelicans gather on the river, cormorants dry their wings along fallen timber, and kingfishers continue to dart through the forest in search of food. As temperatures cool, many birds conserve energy and gather around the rich wetland habitats that make the Barmah Forest one of Australia’s most important ecosystems. The Yamyabuc Trail offers a peaceful opportunity to experience Country during this reflective time of year.

Our renewed 40-bed accommodation facilities open in 2026. Bookings are now being taken for school camps, cultural immersion programs and outdoor learning experiences, with popular dates already filling.

Winter offers some of the best wildlife viewing on the Dhungala. Join a Kingfisher Cruise to experience the river’s abundant birdlife, tranquil waterways and the unique beauty of the Barmah Forest.

Step away from the office and reconnect through culture. Guided walks, cultural experiences, cruises and leadership programs provide a memorable setting for team building, planning days and conferences.

The Dharnya Centre sits within the Barmah Forest, a Ramsar-listed wetland of international significance.

Recently upgraded with multimillion-dollar facilities, the Dharnya Precinct is now open to the public for learning, gatherings, and shared experiences on Country.

We are taking bookings now for curriculum-aligned school day experiences and cultural programs for businesses, as well as 2026 school camps in our new 40-bed facilities.

Curriculum-aligned programs for Foundation to Year 12, including on-Country camps and in-school learning.

Reward and recognition days, conferences, and team building experiences on Country.
